In conjunction with this year’s State-level Innovation Week, the ‘Race on Fire’ competition was held at Lopeng Fire and Rescue Station, Miri on 13 October 2020.
The competition, which involved 12 teams from 10 agencies across the State, was the first collaboration between the Sarawak Federal Secretary Office and the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia (JBPM) Sarawak in organising such an event.
Participants were required to accomplish fire and rescue activities at five stations, namely wearing firefighting operations dress; stretching hoses and shooting targets; ascending and descending safety ladder; wearing Hazmat operations clothing; and extinguishing fire using a hose reel.
The closing ceremony was officiated by Sarawak Federal Secretary YBhg Datuk Haji Mohd Shahabudin Omar.
Also present at the event were Director of JBPM Sarawak YS PKPjB Khirudin Drahman, Deputy Director (Training Division) PgKB II Rafie Sapar and Miri Fire and Rescue Chief Law Poh Kiong.
